Mechanical integration with patented stud welding method for friction linings

ABC handles all components involved in the patented stud welding method. The stud welding method patented by ABC GmbH is essentially a mechanised brake lining retention system. Get in touch. We would be pleased to provide information that suits your personal requirements.

With a variable design of the stud length and diameter, as well as with the help of mechanical traction, the retaining system holds all three components of the brake lining together. The three components are: back plate, under layer, and friction material. The studs used by ABC GmbH are made of a suitable mild steel material. This material does not leave any traces or mechanical damages when it comes into contact with the brake disc surface.

The stud welding method: A quick explanation

A stud holder places the stud at the weld area.

  • Lifting the stud leaves a weld gap between the plate and the ignition cone.
  • When the stud ignition tip touches the area to be welded, an increasing amount of current flows in a pre-defined amount and strength.
  • At the same time, the spring pressure (F) pushes the stud into the new weld and cools off in milliseconds.
  • This procedure triggers an arc. The arc fuses the ignition cone and the surface area. The ignition tip melts quickly.
  • Therefore, the heat on the plate is minimal and it causes no changes to the frame plate.
